H.E. Kunzig Shamar Rimpoche visits his new center
in Remetschwiel, Germany from August, 11 to 19.
With Shamar Rimpoche's first visit to his European Bodhi Path Center,
he gave an exceptionally long course.
Before starting the course Rinpoche blessed the house and the land.
He appreciated the place a lot and said that the area and the conditions
would be very good.
On
the first day of teachings, Rinpoche was presenting the program
of this center, the kind of meditation that should be practiced,
what teachings should be given and so on. He then gave extensive
instructions on the practice of shine, how to calm the mind by using
the breath. After that Rinpoche explained the prostration practice
to the 35 Buddhas, which will be the main practice of the Bodhi Path
Centers. He even demonstrated to all course members how the prostrations
and recitations should be done and everybody made prostrations together
with Rinpoche. He also gave explanations on the practice of Chenrezig.
After nearly every teaching, Rinpoche was meditating with the members
in three short sessions.
On the weekend Rinpoche gave two initiations, Buddha Amitabha on
the 14th and Chenrezig on the 15th. After the Amitabha initiation
a big Amitabha Tsok Puja was held in the evening.
Shamar Rimpoche then explained about bodhicitta and the bodhisattva
behaviour. He ended the course on the 19th giving the Bodhisattva
vow.
Around 190 people came
for the course from all over Germany as well as other countries
like Switzerland, Austria, France, Denmark… As
the center is not yet prepared to hold so many people, a house in
a nearby village with best facilities was rented.
Although there are now reconstructions made in the center, it was
still possible to host around 20 guests in the house. There were
also morning and evening meditations according to Shamar Rimpoche's
teachings.
It was a very good atmosphere and everybody was very grateful to
be able to attend such a precious course with Shamar Rimpoche.
We are already looking forward to his second visit next year.
