H.H.
Shamar Rimpoche arrived
at Copenhagen August 20th and begun his teachings the very
next day.
During
the weekend, August 21st-22nd, Rinpoche gave teachings and initiations
at the Bernadotte School, close by the Copenhagen Buddhist Centre.
This centre has historically significance since it was the very
first centre to be established in the West under the direct supervision
of the H.H. 16th Gyalwa Karmapa.
The
Copenhagen Buddhist Centre earlier had the great fortune of hosting
H.H. Shamar Rimpoche at several other occasions.
The
weekend course August 2004 was a follow up on two courses given
by Rinpoche in Copenhagen respectively in 1996 and 1997. The teachings
then were on Shamatha and Vipashyana meditation according to the
Karma Kagyu tradition.
The
teachings this year were the closure of the previous given teachings
with the purpose of clearing away any doubt about the correct practice
of meditation.
Rinpoches
lucid teachings and precise answers were of great benefit to all
who attended the course. Everybody enjoyed the relaxed and friendly
way Rinpoche dealt with people.
The
initiations into Drolkar (White Tara) and Dorje Sempa attracted
Buddhists from all over Northern Europe. Everybody who participated
in this Buddhist event was greatly inspired.
August
23rd Rinpoche continued his travel to perform other dharma
activities in Denmark.
